Want to add some extra goodness to your day? Start consuming more blueberries – an amazing superfood (at least in my book)!
Eating 1-2 servings a day of fruit is extremely beneficial for everyone (unless you have issues with low blood sugar or diabetes, then stick to 1/2 – 1 serving a day). Choosing healthy carbs, like blueberries, are low in sugar, will give you good energy and will provide you with an array of amazing nutrients.
This is a wonderful, in depth article on how margarine and butter substitutes are created and the affect this process can have on the human body! I realize that this may not seem like a hot topic for a blog post, but believe me, if you take the few minutes it will take to read this – you will be glad you did!
Move over Egg McMuffin. You’ve got nothing on me.
I’m a firm believer that McDonalds offers no healthy menu options. No matter what their marketing team says.
Eat locally. Eat organic. Which is best if you have the option?
Many people don’t even have an option, so this may not apply to some people, but what if you do?
In honor of the second snowfall of the season here in Colorado, I am reposting one of my favorite hot beverage recipes! I have a couple different variations that can be tried, which differs from the original post – but it still remains an amazing recipe for homemade hot cocoa! Especially since I now use cacao powder instead of cocoa powder (both are good, cacao has a sweeter taste to it that I like!)
Reader Question: I’m thinking of trying the ‘grazing’ method of eating that everybody says is healthier than three regular meals a day. Is this healthy?
Answer: Plain and simple – unless you are working out 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, I do not believe grazing is a healthy eating option. There are many reasons behind my thinking, but the top two are: you stop the release and working of the hormone GLUCAGON, which is the fat-burning hormone, and you are causing the hormone INSULIN to be released and in your bloodstream non-stop throughout the day.
Why is this bad?
It’s that time of year again.
As a Health and Nutrition Coach, I always have people ask me for some tips on how to successfully celebrate special occasions without completely going off the deep end when it comes time to eat.
The first and most important thing I always tell people is this:
Blenders are amazing.
Mine would be super amazing if it were a Vitamix or a Health Master.
But, as of right now, it’s pretty amazing with my Ninja.
